VJ DAY

Today we commemorated VJ Day.

Wednesday is the anniversary of the formal Sept. 2, 1945, surrender of Japan to the United States, when documents were signed aboard the U.S. battleship Missouri in Tokyo Bay officially ending years of bloody fighting. It’s known as V-J Day in some countries.

We have the honour of having a veteran of the war, Bob, living with us and he wished to share his memories with us at the pre-lunch commemoration.

It was very thought provoking and emotional at times to listen to him speak. He shared his photos along with his compass, monocle, medals and documents. Incredible to have such a collection first hand.
