Tu B’Shavat/Fruit Week

We got our new year off to a healthy start when we celebrated Tu B’shavat.

This is a festival where the fruits from the harvests from the tree in the climates where it is autumn are celebrated.

These were sourced and displayed for all to view and as the week went on the sample!

The first activity was smoothie making with the children. There were three types of smoothies, a strawberry based one, a mango pineapple and coconut one and a green one with grapes and kale!! We took the taste test, with the green kale one being the favourite!

Fruit kebabs were made on one of the days and eaten later for lunch.

A lemon meringue pie was another fruity dessert home made during activity time, poor Wally was in guinea pig for the meringue test!! Luckily it was stiff enough.

A fresh exotic fruit salad was made from some of the others having played the fruit guessing game. Some of the fruits certainly had us baffled that’s for sure!

(Gladys even learnt to take a selfie, can you find it?)
